About Us

We have used Dr. Rob Pollard’s herbal lactation and arthritis blends on our farm since the early 1990s.

We were first introduced to the lactation blend while managing a group of older imported alpaca females who struggled with milk production. Even with good nutrition and careful management, some animals benefited from additional support during lactation. Dr. Pollard’s lactation herbs became a trusted part of our feeding program and consistently helped support normal milk production during demanding periods.

As our herd aged, Dr. Pollard later formulated an arthritis blend to support joint function and mobility in older animals. Given our long standing success with the lactation blend, we incorporated the arthritis formula as well. Once again, we saw meaningful improvements in comfort and overall quality of life in aging animals.

Years later, as we reached the end of our final bag of herbs and learned of Dr. Pollard’s passing, we contacted his daughter, Rachel, to ask when the blends might be available again. To our disappointment, she shared that production had ended and the formulas would not be continued.

After thoughtful discussion and with deep respect for Dr. Pollard’s work and legacy, we offered to purchase the original recipes and take on the responsibility of continuing their production. Our goal was simple: to preserve formulas that had supported our own animals for decades and to make them available to other llama and alpaca owners who valued the same practical, experience based approach to herd care.

That decision ultimately led to the creation of Camelid Wellness Company.

Camelid Wellness Company was founded to responsibly carry forward Dr. Pollard’s original herbal formulas and ensure they remained available to the camelid community. These blends are produced using the same recipes we relied on for decades, with the same intention: practical support for llamas and alpacas during periods of increased physical demand.

Camelid Wellness Company reflects our long standing commitment to thoughtful animal care, informed by experience rather than trends. While the lactation and arthritis blends were the starting point, the company was built with a broader purpose in mind: to offer carefully selected products that support the health, comfort, and wellbeing of camelids throughout all stages of life.
